On back of book: Angie’s parents are visiting Rolling Brook for Christmas-but unfortunately, her ex is joining them. Luckily, Angie has no time to dwell on her romantic troubles as she prepares her store, Running Stitch, for the town’s traditional progressive dinner, features a sleigh ride stopping at each stop for a different course of the meal.
The meal ends with an Amish-themed Christmas play at the Swiss Valley Hotel and Barn. But the performance is cut short when an actress falls to her death from the scaffolding. Once the sheriff suspects foul play, tensions between the Amish and Englisch heat up, as do rivalries among the acting troupe. Now Angie and her quilting circle must stitch together clues before they’re the ones running for cover…
My thoughts: The dog, Oliver, is so funny! I know animals can be scared of things just like us humans but for it to be birds is just too funny! I was really interested to find in this book that the Amish people didn’t shun the character who left town to become an actress. Instead everyone seemed to still love her. Why would anyone want to kill here? Of course, there are a few of the Amish who do not approve of this play being put on. We have the crazy Amish man, who left his Amish people to be on his own or the theater troupe itself, there a few different characters among them who could have committed the crime. The love life gets a little dicey for Angie in this one…the ex coming for Christmas, the mother pushing Angie towards the ex and the new love interest feels put on the back burner and is praying that Angie doesn’t choose the ex. This made for an interesting read considering you had the murder mystery to figure out and the emotional aspect of Angie’s love life for her to figure out! Oh and I felt that there is a little cliff hanger at the end of the story. I gave this book 4 STARS. I can’t wait for the next!
